FORT MYERS BEACH - A favorite destination for visitors eager to engage in boating and water sports such as para-sailing and kayaking or simply just relaxing on the inviting beach. Fort Myers Beach is situated on a small barrier island with 7 miles of sandy white shoreline along the Gulf of Mexico and recently named by Frommer's as one of the "COOLEST SMALL TOWNS." There definitely is a small town atmosphere here with the population being made up of fishermen, artists, merchants, winter residents and plenty of tourists which is the major industry of Fort Myers Beach. The economy of the beach is self sufficient and there is plenty of shopping, fine dining, boat rentals, sport fishing, para-sailing, banking, schools, medical center, recreation center, movie theater, etc. The real estate is comprised of single family homes and condos originally built between the 1960's and 1980's. However, there are some beautiful newer high rises that have been developed on the bay side of Fort Myers Beach and gorgeous highrise Resorts directly on the Gulf of Mexico. Most single family homes are situated on a canal, bay, or within only a few walking blocks to the Gulf of Mexico. Fort Myers Beach's close proximity to Sanibal/Captiva islands and the greater Fort Myers area makes it a popular spot and a good investment!
